WGDO is the world's first non-profit international organization dedicated to promoting global green design development, with official certification from the European Union and special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Since 2011, WGDO has established the Green Design International Award and the Green Design International Contribution Award, aiming to globally identify and recognize outstanding products, technologies, and projects in the field of green design and sustainable development, as well as individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions.
In 2025, the World Green Design Organization received nearly 1000 award applications from 43 countries worldwide. After strict screening and in-depth evaluation by the judging committee, 51 projects were shortlisted for this annual meeting, with 20 winning the International Green Design Award (including nomination award) and 3 receiving the International Green Design Contribution Award (including nomination award). Weichai has won multiple awards, reflecting WGDO's high recognition of Weichai's sustainable development practices.
As one of the core highlights of this summit, Weichai's high thermal efficiency series engines are based on the concept of green design. In terms of forward-looking, universal, systematic, collaborative, economical, and sustainable green design attributes, they have received unanimous high praise from the WGDO review committee. Weichai has released the world's first commercial diesel engine with thermal efficiency exceeding 50%, 51%, 52%, and 53% for four consecutive times, which is a green design benchmark for energy conservation, emission reduction, and carbon reduction in the global internal combustion engine industry and a practical example for implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
For many years, Weichai has actively practiced UNSDGs and the national "dual carbon" strategy, adhered to the technological innovation concept of "green+technology" as the core, and integrated digitization, intelligence, and greenization throughout the entire product life cycle. It has built a national level green factory, promoted ecological coordination throughout the entire industry chain, and led the development direction of the global clean power industry.
In the future, Weichai will continue to deepen the construction of its green design system, strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, promote green innovation achievements to a broader market, help achieve global low-carbon transformation and sustainable development goals, and contribute Weichai's wisdom and strength to building a green earth.
